Duties: Sports Conditioning and Exercise Science is a 2-year program that focuses on the effects of exercise on human health, wellness, and sports performance, frequent sports related injuries and prevention strategies.

The Exercise Science teacher assists the students with understanding the expectations for different careers through internships, guest speakers, community involvement, and independent research. Topics of instruction will include: anatomy, resistance training principles, mobility practices, and kinesiology. The classroom environment will consist of project-based learning, whole group instruction and lab components in the weight room or outdoors.

In this role, you will be responsible for finding and maintaining community partners and stakeholders and planning field trips within the local community. In their senior year, you will help students with their career readiness to include: resume and cover letter writing, internships, portfolios, and passing the NASM Certified Personal Trainer exam.

Qualifications: Certified Science Teacher or three years’ experience in the Exercise Science field

Location of Position: Canastota High School

Term of Employment: 10-month position

Salary: Contingent upon experience and education according to Teacher’s Contract.
