Standard 1 - Career Development (CDOS1)
  Students will be knowledgeable about the world of work, explore career options, and relate personal skills, aptitudes, and abilities to future career decisions.

Students complete the development of a career plan that will permit eventual entry into a chosen career 17. Use the electronic catalog to locate material Seniors will work with teacher and librarian to research career, prepare a written report, and arrange for one-week internship at a location where they will be able to experience the career first-hand.

Standard 2 - Integrated Learning (CDOS2) 
  Students will demonstrate how academic knowledge and skills are applied in the workplace and other settings.

Integrated learning encourages students to use essential academic concepts, facts, and procedures in applications related to life skills and the world of work. This approach allows students to see the usefulness of the concepts that they are being asked to learn and to understand their potential application in the world of work.

  Demonstrate the integration of academic and occupational skills in school work and personal lives. 3. Be familiar with the layout and organization of the library. Students volunteer in the library -- shelving, circulation, etc.

Librarian works with home and careers teacher to design and implement and evaluate student multimedia projects on specific careers.

Prepare a works cited page and/or bibliography using different types of material (Internet, books, paid electronic databases, newspapers, etc.), using a standard District format such as APA or MLA. Each student will participate in a senior career week internship, presenting the experience in a visual format upon their return to school.

Students use a combination of techniques to read or listen to complex information and analyze what they hear or read; convey information confidently and coherently in written or oral form. 44. Use cross-references and/or related terms to access additional information. Students will research and create a research report, including a database.

Students demonstrate and understanding of and ability to work within natural and constructed systems. 37. Use multimedia software to produce a presentation. Students will research the workings of a mechanical item, and develop a presentation using multimedia to explain it.
