Matthew C. Williams, Ph.D., Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction


matt williamsDr. Matthew Williams joined MOBOCES in 2020 as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. He began his career as a math teacher in a rural district in Wayne County and later taught in suburban districts near Rochester and Syracuse areas. In 2004, he became the Dean of Students at Corcoran High School in Syracuse and later served as Vice Principal of that school.

In total, he spent more than 15 years as an administrator in Syracuse, launching the Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central and serving as principal of the Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler. Matt later supervised all Special Education related service providers for the district and oversaw all Committee on Special Education meetings. During this time, he used his CTE knowledge and experience to expand career pathways for students with disabilities and assisted in the supervision of CDOS implementation. He also served as Principal of Henninger High School and brought the school out of state receivership within two years.

Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, and a Ph.D. in Leadership, Thought and Policy, all from the University of Rochester, and he holds a second Bachelor’s degree in Tuba Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
