What is Health and Wellness?

The Health and Wellness Committee of Madison Oneida BOCES consists of a diverse group of individuals selected to present ideas and information to build an overall healthier Madison-Oneida BOCES. We are not experts in the world of Health and Wellness.

Brenda Wolak
Senior Coordinator for Adult & Continuing Ed
MOBOCES Health and Wellness Committee. I look forward to helping provide an educational tool for our staff as well as gaining more information to assist me and my family to live a healthier lifestyle. I enjoy cooking and am always looking for new and creative recipes that are both flavorful and provide high-quality nutritional value. We live in a region with an abundance of opportunities for outdoor exercising such as running, walking, biking, skiing, etc. The list is endless and the place to engage in these activities is at our doorstep.

Jack Angrisano
Risk Management Service
As a former collegiate athlete & and coach, I have always been interested in helping individuals achieve their personal goals regarding fitness and health. Professionally I have also been involved in the health and safety of others and this committee seemed to fit that role.

Kristin Guinto
Sr. Office Specialist
When asked to be a part of the Health and Wellness Committee I was excited to see what the Committee is committed to. Although I have been one to "work-out" and make my lifestyle healthy, I am a mother of two children with very busy schedules so finding time is my biggest challenge. In 2013 I was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease (Gluten Intolerance) which has impacted my eating habits, I was also diagnosed with a Thyroid disorder, both are considered autoimmune disorders which run in my family. I hope you will all find this site helpful and utilize the tools as an avenue to share your successes, your ideas, and your recipes.

Lisa Seitz
Planning & Grant Writing Specialist
I have served on the Health and Wellness Committee since its inception. As a longtime BOCES employee and Canastota community member, I offer an organization-wide perspective and have an understanding of services offered in the area. I am very interested in holistic wellness (physical and emotional) and preventing illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

Brenda Egelston
Computer Technical Assistant
Two years ago my youngest son, Gregory, was diagnosed with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) which we manage by eating a clean diet and exercising. We learn something new every day, therefore my goal in participating on this committee is to be able to share our lifestyle change with others and to continue growing in our healthy lifestyle.

Tammy

Tammy Ebersold
RIC Technical Team
Hi, my name is Tammy Ebersold. I am brand new to the Health and Wellness Committee this year. I like to be outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. My hobbies are sewing, crocheting, learning how to make jewelry, camping, and cooking in my Instant Pot. My goal in participating on this committee is to make healthier choices and learn new ideas going forward to live a healthier lifestyle, then share the ideas with my family, friends, and co-workers.

I joined the Health and Wellness Committee because I want to be healthier. I want to start eating better and exercising regularly. I am interested to know how other people manage this. I'm excited to hear about new healthy recipes and new exercise programs. My goal is to be healthier, share my experience and help others achieve their goal as well. I feel that anyone can be successful with the support and encouragement from others.

Cheri

Cheri Schmalz
Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction
Although I have always strived to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I tend to be overwhelmed by the time constraints of everyday responsibilities, and with that, I have historically pushed off my own day-to-day needs because it's of greater importance to me to do all I can for those around me. I am certain this is a very familiar story to many of you. At this juncture in my life, I realize I need to get serious about doing a better job with self-care, as, with age, it is becoming increasingly more difficult. I decided to become a Health & Wellness team member as a challenge to myself to work harder to accomplish better health and wellness in my life, as well as to share this journey and newfound resources with others who may also be struggling. Additionally, I will be working to contribute new ideas that will promote the health and well-being of not only the staff of Madison-Oneida BOCES but our students as well.
