Duties: Assist in the development of the treatment plan and the identification and implementation of behavioral rules and consequences. Monitors, analyzes, and collaborates with teachers (using a team approach), therapists, other mental health staff and students in developing, implementing and monitoring individual student academic and behavioral progress and goals. Provide high quality behavioral supports, be highly visible and accessible to students and staff, build positive relationships with students, staff, & families, and train staff in de-escalation techniques using the CPI model and restorative practices. Utilizes appropriate interventions designed to help students practice coping skills, achieve academic success and eventually apply for transition back to “home” school. Evaluates crisis situations and escalated behaviors and provide appropriate interventions and support, and any additional activities in support of programs, as outlined by the Director of Middle Level programs.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, human services, teaching or related field required. Certification as a school psychologist, school counselor, social worker and/or leadership background and a minimum of two years’ experience supporting middle school level age students who exhibit challenging behaviors. Experience with FBA/BIP assessment, RTI or MTSS behavior process, PBIS, consultation, effective communication skills with teachers, administrators, and school districts as required. CPI certified or eligible for certification. Fingerprint clearance through the NYS Education Department, and experience working with a diverse population of students.

Term of Employment: Full Time, 10 Month Position
Salary: Contingent upon education and experience and according to the MOBOCES Teacher Contract
