Practical Nurse Information

The BCCE Adult Practical Nursing Program prepares students to take the NCLEX-PN licensing exam for Practical Nurses.  The curriculum includes:  classroom theory, laboratory skills, and clinical experience.  This course is a total of 1260 clock hours in length. A comprehensive, intensive two-day NCLEX-PN exam review is offered at the conclusion of the course.

Pre-Requisites:                 1.    High School Transcript or GED/TASC

2.       Must be 18 years of age

3.       Take and pass the Kaplan Admission Exam - $65.00 fee

4.       Personal Interview

5.       Complete application for admission

6.       Payment of Non-Refundable Application Fee

7.       Negative Drug Screen

**BOCES remains a drug free zone.  Positive drug screens will exclude individuals from clinical practice.  Healthcare facility guidelines prohibit those found under the influence from entering clinical sites and participating in clinical instruction.

**Clinical Days (2/week) are 6:50 am - 3:30 pm.
Clinical days begin in week 12 of the program and continue to the end of the program.
 


The program health documentation requirements are: a physical exam; immunizations and/or blood titers, and a negative tuberculosis test; flu vaccine and COVID vaccines are required per NYS Mandate.

Students are evaluated throughout the program.  To successfully complete the program you must complete 1260 clock hours of instruction.  A grade average of 75% must be maintained in each course and you must pass both the nursing skills and the clinical component to receive a certificate of completion.

Currently, the estimated tuition and associated costs are approximately $15,500 plus $1800.00 in out of pocket expenses. This amount is subject to change without notice due to increases in program costs. Call  (315) 361-5800 for application deadlines and to schedule your pre-admission test.
