PROPEL

PROPEL (Providing Regional Opportunities & Pathways for Enhanced Learning) is a partnership between MOBOCES, regional high schools, and Mohawk Valley Community College. This rigorous, career-focused initiative allows high school juniors and seniors to take college classes at the MVCC Rome campus while earning their NYS High School DIplomas, and they have the opportunity to earn micro-credentials and certificates, talk with industry professionals and complete hands-on work in their chosen pathway. Students gain valuable college-level learning experiences and are eligible to complete a college degree with just one year of post-high school coursework.

There are currently four program tracks available: Childhood Education, Cybersecurity & Computer Science, Engineering, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones). Interested students and families can find anticipated course outlines and more program information below.

About PROPEL:

  • The program is free to students. Your high school provides transportation and textbooks, and MVCC does not charge students for classes.
  • Students can complete a college degree in just one year after high school.
  • All PROPEL students take College Seminar, an introductory class which helps students find success in college.
  • Students also have access to the student assistance programs through their home district, MOBOCES and MVCC.
  • Students are not required to remain in the program for the full three years. Students who leave before three years may be able to transfer their credits to other colleges and universities.
