Adult Education Practical Nurse (PN) Clinical/Lab Instructor
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical instruction and supervision of Practical Nursing students during assigned clinical rotations.
- Provide instruction and supervision in the clinical laboratory setting, demonstrating and evaluating required nursing skills and competencies.
- Serve as a professional role model for students in both the clinical and laboratory settings.
- Orient students to clinical facilities, staff, policies, assigned units, and laboratory expectations.
- Assign patient care activities based on students’ skill level, competencies, and clinical rotation objectives.
- Supervise students during patient care activities and ensure safe, appropriate clinical practice.
- Facilitate pre- and post-clinical conferences to support learning and reflection.
- Complete and maintain required documentation related to student attendance, evaluations, and clinical/laboratory performance.
- Communicate relevant information, concerns, and updates to the Health Occupations Coordinator.
- Maintain current CPR/AED certification and comply with clinical facility requirements.
- Ensure compliance with New York State Registered Nurse licensure requirements and LPN scope of practice regulations.
- Maintain consistency, objectivity, and fairness in evaluating student performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The qualified candidate must be a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or actively enrolled in a BSN program. Applicants should have recent experience in medical/surgical and extended care settings, including medication administration. Experience teaching clinical skills or supervising nursing students in clinical and/or laboratory settings is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred. Fingerprint clearance is required. Availability for weekday clinical rotations and/or laboratory instruction is required.
Location of Position: BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education - Verona and/or Utica, New York
Term of Employment: Part-time, Per Diem
Salary: Contingent upon education and experience.
