Adult Literacy/GED Preparation Teacher - Full Time
Duties: We are seeking a dedicated, self-disciplined, and compassionate Educator to provide basic academic skill instruction and High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation. In this role, you will work closely with a diverse population of adults and out-of-school youth, including individuals who may present learning difficulties or challenging behaviors. The ideal candidate is an independent worker capable of fostering student achievement, maintaining rigorous records, and driving student retention.
Key Responsibilities
· Direct Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective basic academic skill instruction and HSE preparation tailored to adults and out-of-school youth.
· Assessment & Testing: Administer student testing and ongoing assessments to measure progress and adjust instructional strategies.
· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation and student records to ensure full accountability for student achievement and program retention.
· Behavior & Classroom Management: Create a supportive, structured environment comfortable for students with diverse learning needs, learning difficulties, or challenging behaviors.
· Professional Development: Commit to continuous professional growth by completing 14 hours of RAEN-sponsored professional development annually.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
· Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Special Education.
· Preferred: New York State (NYS) Teacher Certification.
o Note: Candidates without an NYS certification must be eligible for Adult Education Certification.
Experience & Skills
· Proven experience teaching or supervising adults and/or out-of-school youth.
· Ability to work independently with strong self-discipline.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
· Strong verbal communication skills.
· Public relations skills are considered a major plus.

Term of Employment: 12 month position (37.5 - 40 hours per week)
Salary: $25.00 - $30.00/hour + benefits (Depending on education and experience)
