Middle Level NEW DRAFT
The Middle Level programs at Madison-Oneida BOCES provide a variety of offerings that are designed to meet the unique and individual needs of each student. By incorporating best practices and learning strategies into classroom instruction, our programs focus on helping students develop and enhance positive social-emotional behaviors, academic success, and life skills.

Bright Futures Academy
Grades 5-8
Overview: The Bright Futures Academy (BFA) program is designed for middle school students with social-emotional learning challenges who are unsuccessful in a traditional public-school setting. The goal of this program is to increase the number of students who are successful on a variety of qualitative and quantitative measures (including attendance, social and emotional behavior, and academics) and can successfully transition to high school.
Tri Academy
Grades 7-8
Overview: Tri Academy is an Intense Management Needs 8:1:1 program that provides students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with extra support to help them be successful in school and the community. The program is designed to develop students’ social-emotional learning needs and encourage them to utilize their coping skills during difficult situations.

Autism Program 6:1:1
Grades 7-12
Overview: Autism Program 6:1:1 serves students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is designed to meet the individual cognitive, social, and communication needs of each student. Meaningful instruction is provided in a highly structured and visual format, with a staffing ratio of 6 students: 1 teacher: 1 classroom aide and additional support personnel.

Skills Development 12:1:1
Grade 7-Age 22
Overview: The Skills Development 12:1:1 program serves students with moderate to severe disabilities, with a staffing ratio of 12 students: 1 teacher: 1 teaching assistant and additional support personnel. A variety of related service therapies and behavioral and social-emotional supports are provided as indicated in the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Skills 12:1:1
Grades ?
Overview: Skills 12:1:1 instruction focuses on the development of competencies needed to achieve a High School diploma and a CDOS credential. Academic classes are taught by Special Education and subject-qualified teachers in a departmentalized model similar to a typical MS-HS program.
Community Based – NYSAA
Grades ?
Overview: Community Based – NYSAA instruction focuses on the development of competencies needed for success as adults, based on each student’s level of ability and appropriate individual goals. Enrolled students focus on functional language, reading, writing, mathematics and life skills, and can attain a Skills and Achievement Credential.
