Families First Coronavirus Response Act and Wellness Resources information for employees

Student instructional programs at MOBOCES are occurring remotely in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we have reduced our on-site staff but are continuing operations. You may call our main switchboard at 315-361-5500 or directly email the person you are trying to reach.

Our instructional staff worked hard to create and mail home packets of instructional materials to every student in our CTE, Alternative Education, Special Education and Early Childhood Education programs. Those packets contain contact information for students and families to reach their division during the closure. Teachers are now developing new ways to continue connecting with and teaching students remotely.

Our Staff Development division has compiled a list of instructional resources for teachers and parents to use, and the MORIC has created a number of resources on instructional and operational continuity for teachers and districts. Our Behavior Specialist has created a series of social/emotional videos to help parents and caregivers support the needs of their children. We will also continue to share learning resources on our Twitter feed, and WCNY has created a new TV Classroom to support those without Internet access.

For our on-site staff, we continue to thoroughly clean our buildings, encourage good hygiene practices, and follow Health Department guidance and protocols. And we continue to share updates with our staff and the public as needed. Families should also look for communication from their school district of residence.

Specifically in regards to coronavirus: COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, spread person-to-person similar to influenza. Currently there is no specific treatment or vaccination to prevent COVID-19.  Non-pharmaceutical interventions, like those to avoid other respiratory illnesses such as influenza, are the best method to avoid ongoing community spread.

Resources

Below are some resources from the state and local health departments and the CDC for your reference. While the links refer to pandemic flu, the content is equally appropriate for any community outbreaks of COVID-19.  Further, since we are still in the middle of our annual cold and flu season, this information is just as timely to address those illnesses.
