Fall Open House 2022

Fall Open House A Celebration of Learning
Posted on 10/20/2022
The main campus of Madison-Oneida BOCES was unusually busy for a Thursday night on October 20th. Hundreds of people including students, staff members, prospective students, families and community members gathered to learn more about the people and programs that define the MOBOCES experience as the organization renewed its traditional Fall Open House. This was the first in-person Fall Open House held on campus since 2019.

The event provides a pathway for anyone who is interested in MOBOCES programs to learn more about what the organization can offer them or their students.

Guests were welcomed to campus by seven dedicated students who participate in our Student Ambassador program. Our student ambassadors served as the gateway to a thrilling evening of learning, playing, exploring and expanding the vibrant learning community at MOBOCES.

In the Tilden Hill TriPlexus, students and staff from our special programs were excited to share a slice of school, and a few slices of pizza with families. Staff members and families had an opportunity to build relationships with each other while enjoying a pizza dinner. Some students showed off their work, and there were plenty of opportunities to demonstrate play-based learning as well.

As it is during the school day, the Rossetti Education Center was packed with activity. Career and Technical Education students demonstrated the skills they have been working on since the school year began, and in some cases, family members had the opportunity to get involved. Cosmetology students provided manicures and other basic spa treatments to their guests. Heavy equipment students took family members for a turn on the program’s highly advanced simulator while demonstrating the use of machinery outside.

Our distinguished team of CTE instructors was also available to take questions from families and prospective students.

The Rossetti Courtyard featured the work of some of the off-campus programs available through MOBOCES, such as Equine and Animal Science, Sports Management, and MVCC Propel. They had a great opportunity for exposure in that location, as countless students and families passed through to meet with representatives from higher education and the armed forces as part of the college fair portion of the event.

Madison-Oneida BOCES would like to thank everyone who attended, and/or supported this event. We look forward to sharing details about our exciting Spring Open House at a later date.
