Annual Meeting 2023

Annual Meeting Highlights Partnerships
Posted on 04/06/2023

MOBOCES celebrated the growth of its Career and Technical Education programs and expanded district partnerships at this year’s Annual Meeting.

School board members and administrators from all nine component school districts joined in the event, connecting with colleagues and hearing more about the growing number of CTE programs housed in local school buildings. This trend, which is expected to grow in the next school year, allows students from across the region to gain more authentic, hands-on experiences and increases student access to programming by moving off the main Verona campus.

Seniors from the one-year Advanced Culinary Experience (ACE) and juniors and seniors from the two-year Culinary Arts programs prepared and served a formal plated dinner and dessert, with small take-home boxes of cookies at the end of the evening.

Students from the Canastota Select Choir and Jazz Band provided live entertainment for the evening, and participants had an opportunity to visit informational tables around the Rossetti Courtyard to learn more about CTE. Students from Camden, Canastota, Oneida and Rome spoke about their CTE experiences, and ACE senior Lauren Barker of Hamilton led the Pledge of Allegiance to begin the event.

District Superintendent Scott Budelmann and Deputy Superintendent Lisa Decker welcomed guests and provided program and budget information in advance of the annual administrative budget vote. In addition, MOBOCES board candidates Richard Engelbrecht (Madison), Donna Isbell (Morrisville-Eaton) and Patrick Baron (Vernon Verona Sherrill) spoke about their desire to continue their service to the region.
